Peter Balani - Chicago Trunk Show - 1962

Two Generations of Excellence

In 1953 my father, Peter Balani, set out to master the art of crafting custom clothing. He traveled the globe, establishing relationships with the top European fabric mills.

In 1961, he founded BALANI Custom Clothiers in Chicago, serving a small group of dedicated clients. Despite many obstacles, he would successfully run it for 40 years.

When I turned 16, my father proudly asked me to join the family business. Like many teenagers, I quickly shut him down, insisting I would pave my own path with a career in finance.

Undeterred, 10 years later, he asked me again. With years of corporate experience now behind me, I finally recognized the significance of this opportunity—a chance to create my own vision by modernizing custom clothing, enhancing the customer experience, and expanding nationwide.

Today, as we open in our 14th city, it is our clients’ dedication and loyalty we cherish the most. Throughout our expansion, we have remarkably upheld 5-star ratings on Yelp, Google, and Trustpilot in every city we are located.

Our values of quality and superior service will always be at the core of everything we provide for our clients.  We passionately continue to handcraft each suit, taking pride in even the finest details, just as we have done for the last 56 years.

I invite you to join in my father’s legacy and share my vision on our journey through The Custom Life.
